Empowering People

The “The Third Vertical” of Community Empowerment involves proactive and consistent outreach to communities with information, training, support and even setting up of demo plots to ensure that communities receive and more importantly, are able to make use of the information and knowledge
Key empowerment activities involve strengthening of focal groups; retaining people, use of volunteers and associates with domain knowledge at Maarifa centres; training; demonstrations and exchange visits facilitation among a range of others. An important initiative that will determine the success of this vertical is the nurturing of partnerships with other partners to widen reach and impact.
ALIN continuously builds the capacities of infomediaries to support both dissemination and capture of information about innovations and best practices from communities. Capacity building is done either directly or through partners. Areas of capacity building include thematic workshops on skills in writing and production of multimedia clips; exchange visit to learn best practices and local innovations.
